Technical Writing: Blended Learning, Fall 2015
Michelle Von Euw, Instructor
Welcome to Technical Writing, part of the University of Maryland's Blended Learning Initiative. You are part of the University's forward-looking efforts to make classroom learning more dynamic, more engaging, more streamlined, and more like the experiences you'll be having in your future workplaces, which are likely to involve online as well as in-person interactions.
This semester, we'll work together to improve your writing, to engage you in communicating with a variety of professional audiences, and to expand your research, development, and analytical skills as you work to identify and solve a real-world problem.
We will follow a weekly schedule anchored by online work and culminating in an in-person meeting on Thursdays. Our Thursday classrooms will involve student-led discussions of the work you've been reading, the primary research you've been conducting, the videos and presentations you've been watching, and the analyzing you've been doing about technical writing, workplace communication, and the specific problems and issues you'll each explore and uncover throughout the fall.
I look forward to working with you this semester on expanding your mastery of professional communication!
