Part 1: Due prior to the start of class on Tuesday, October 2:
Reply to this thread with three potential topic ideas. Each topic should be developed and well-considered. Ideas should be both complete and succinct. Please use the following format for each of your three ideas:
Tagline: (Potential project title)
Description: (A brief description of the problem, previewing potential solutions if applicable)
Audience: (Potential primary audience for the project; Include specific names)
Format: (Technical Report, Manual, Feasibility Study) Rank your topics according to your interest level -- the first one should be the one you're most intent on pursuing.
You may want to review the Potential Topic Examples which follow the above format.
Part 2: Due at the end of class on Tuesday, October 2:
Respond to at least three classmates’ project ideas. Pick three classmates and read their posts carefully. For some, you may have to do the narrowing down for them. For others, you’ll want to suggest better audiences or other areas of research. If you really want to be helpful, you can post links to websites you think would be useful. You will not get credit for responding with vague encouragement or criticism (“this sounds good” or “I don’t think this will work”). Credit will only be given for specific, detailed, helpful responses. Please note: Once a classmate has three responses, that classmate’s post is closed and additional commenters won't receive credit for their feedback. This way, every student should receive at least three responses.
